Live rock band · Gravesend, Kent
Hazy Shade
Three people, sixty years of the best rock ever written, and our own engineer on the desk. Loud, tight and built for a room full of people.
Not a jukebox.
A rock band.
Hazy Shade are a three-piece rock band from Gravesend, Kent. We play Free, Cream, the Pistols, Plastic Bertrand (yes, really), Ramones, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, The Who, The Beatles, T. Rex, Chuck Berry, The Stones, the Blockheads, Buzzcocks, and loads more from the 60s and 70s. Plus a few newer ones when the mood takes us.
No backing tracks. Everything you hear is the three of us playing it live, through modern modelling rigs. All the tone, none of the shifting a stack of cabinets up a fire escape. We travel with our own sound and lighting engineer, so what comes out front is mixed properly every night, not left to chance.
We've been at it since 2017, give or take the couple of years after Covid when nobody was playing anywhere. We turn up early, we're easy to deal with, and we know how to read a crowd, whether that's a packed Saturday night or a slow-burn Sunday session.

Hey Joe (the one where we forgot the camera)
Cracking take. Genuinely one of our favourites. Unfortunately nobody pressed record on anything pointing at the band, so what you get is five minutes of the audio with a load of hippy nonsense smeared over a very silly face. Close your eyes and it’s brilliant.
Or just play the audio version up in Listen.
The Band
Three of us
That's the whole trick. Nowhere to hide when it's a three-piece.
Where we play
Live music across Kent
Gravesend is home. The van goes a lot further than that.

Most weekends you’ll find us somewhere around Gravesend, but we’re a load and a drive like anyone else, so distance is rarely the problem. If you’re putting on live music anywhere in Kent, ask. Worst case we say we’re already booked.
We turn up with our own PA, our own lights and our own engineer, which matters more than people think in a small room. It means we’re not relying on the venue having anything, and it means the sound out front is somebody’s actual job on the night.

We’re based in Gravesend, Kent. We play regularly around Gravesend, Northfleet, Dartford and the Medway towns, and we’re happy to travel across Kent and the wider South East.
